Recipes for DIY Mask with Zespri Kiwi [DIY]

Girl with waving hair

Hello my friends!

I'm almost over with the Zespri Kiwi 14 Day Challenge and my mind can't stop thinking about all the free kiwis that I will be missing. Oh well, I will have to buy them myself already after this.

One of our challenge is to create a recipe with kiwi fruits. I do cook (not a good one) but since I'm more of a beauty blogger, I believe recipes for DIY mask will be more relevant.

Here's some details about kiwi:
  • It has 3 times more vitamin C than oranges. It boosts our immune system, aids in fighting off infections and repairs or body tissues.
  • High in minerals, regulates our body fluids, blood pressure and electrolytes level in our body.
  • Contain Vitamin E helps in anti-aging and protects from free radicals.

*Warning: Before starting on the face mask, please note that there are some people may be allergic to kiwi face packs. To know better, rub a small piece on your skin. If you feel any discomfort and inflammation, please do not proceed on putting kiwi mask on your face.*

So here goes...

I will be introducing to you 4 types of Kiwi masks and all the items you need is as below. In case you don't know what are certain things, you may find them above.

Kiwi (of course)
Lemon
Plain Yogurt
Banana
Avocado
Honey

Mask #1 | Kiwi Lemon Pack

Lemon is great for skin lightening and getting rid of the acne marks and scars. It also helps to remove dead skin cells which ultimately reduces blackheads and encourages new skin cell growth. Though, remember lemon is acidic thus do not over use it and definitely avoid using lemon topically before sun exposure as your skin will be a little more sensitive.

Squeeze some lemon juice into diced kiwi and mash them together. You can also choose to use the blender. This paste is very watery as kiwi itself is very juicy thus don't just pour the whole bowl on the face. Highly suggest you use a brush or fingers to slowly apply and massage your face before leaving it for 5-10 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Mask #2 | Kiwi Yogurt Pack

The presence of live culture along with lactic acid, zinc and other minerals and enzymes in yogurt encourages healthy and glowing skin after usage. Lactic acid helps in hydration and reduce dullness. It also helps in preventing pre-mature ageing of skin. It is also an awesome cure for sunburns due to the zinc element that helps cool burning and itching sensation.

Simply mix them both and apply. Do strain them if you get too much liquid from the kiwi fruit, only apply the pulps infused with yogurt goodness. Preferably use organic or good quality yogurt for better results, something with a thicker consistency will be awesome.

Mask #3 | Kiwi Yogurt Banana Pack

Banana is extremely nutritious for the face as it leaves complexion feeling silky smooth by delivering a burst of vitamins and minerals goodness that tightens and moisturize you skin. Being naturally high in potassium, it can help to retard acne bacteria.

Just dump kiwi, yogurt and banana in one bowl and give them a good whack. Again if there's too much of liquid from the kiwi, strain them. Apply on skin for 10-15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

Mask #4 | Kiwi Avocado Honey Pack

Avocado have a long history in benefiting the skin, a trick that Victoria Beckham is not willing to miss out. They contain much nutrient such as vitamin E, vitamin K, iron, zinc, potassium, mineral and etc. It also seems that avocado oil increases the production of collagen. Who doesn't want that?! Honey is also a very old trick in the book of face mask, as old as legend has it that Cleopatra applied honey mask to her face every morning for smooth, healthy and youthful skin.

Mash half avocado and kiwi until it's smooth and then add honey into the mixture. Keep it on for 15 minutes and wash with warm water. This is one pack that makes our skin feel so moisturized after rinsing them off.

Mask #5 The Lazy Mask

This method is best for lazy people. After eating the fruit, take the kiwi skin and apply them on your face for 10 - 15 minutes before rinsing. Simple and easy.

Happy Masking!
