Havoc at #YouthUnitedFest2014 !

Another festival post?! Oh yes, I became a party queen last weekend. Attended one festival after another. Can't complain, it was quite fun. :D 

Youth United Festival 2014, presented by Honor 6, was held in stadium Melawati, Shah Alam, open carpark area. It was a day filled with celebrities, performances, sports, arts, music, food and so much more! 

The first thing that was compulsory for me to check out was the YouthZibition, generated by Gen. Y Harian Metro. Students from all over Malaysia exhibited their work on photography, paintings and illustrations, and print graphics. My friend, Suresh, was one of the contestant and his iPhoneography work is really amazing! You can see all his creative cafe shots by following him on Instagram.

Booths were hosted by celebrities such as Azza Elite, Zul Yahya and Intan Ladyana while some of the famous food trucks in Malaysia such as, Sangkaya Creameries, BurgerGilerPower, Cowboys Food Truck, Baden2 On Wheels, and La Famiglia, as well as local food vendors including The Pisang Cheese, Babarittos, Cheesy Heart, Sandwich Boys Bar and more, were there to fill our hungry tummies!

International athlete, FISE puts on an exhilarating show using BMX bikes as well as spray painters did their thang!

An exciting prize pool worth more than RM 100,000 was up for grabs for students taking part in the key programs throughout the event finale. Many student football teams competed against each other on the futsal pitch in the Intervarsity Futsal Challenge, activated by Shell Advance Motorcycle Oils, co-sponsored by Revive Isotonic. The champion was UM B from University Malaya, who emerged as winners and walked away with RM 5,000 cash and a trophy. First runner up, Farmala United from Lim Kok Wing University, walked away with RM 3,000 cash and medal, and second runner up was Eagles FC from Asia Pacific University, who walked away with RM 2,000 cash and medals. The team’s prize winnings was also matched by YouthUnited.MY and donated in the team’s name, to Youth Cares. The teams also received goodie bags sponsored by Shell Advance Motorcycle Oils. Fans also played against Fahrin Ahmad, Roy Azman, Azrul Raja Lawak, Aidil Aziz, Farid from band 30 Cent, and Fiq from television show, Mentor in a round of friendly celebrity futsal.

The public voted for these students in the art exhibition. In the end, the top winner for Photography category, Painting category and Illustration category was Nur Fadhila binti Mohd Faudzie from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Nur Hidayah binti Ab Halim, from Universiti Teknologi MARA, and Ismail Ibrahim Mohamed Almahdi from UNITEN respectively. Each winner walked away with an Honor 6 Smartphone.

Many talented and outstanding students who made the cut for Honor’s Campus Ambassador in Youth Icon, ignited by Honor 6, fit at least one of the following criteria, including highly confident, active in clubs and societies, high achiever, and active in community service. They described their Honor Story on stage in front of the crowd. The ten Honor Campus Ambassadors, who walked away with an Honor 6 smartphone each were Muhammad Anuar Zaini Mohamed Alwi from Taylor’s University, Muhamad Afnan Afiq Bin Alias from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Muhammad Shauqi Muhammad Hilmi from Multimedia University, Noor Dayana Bt Nasharudin from University Selangor (Shah Alam), Nur Syuhada Bt Mohamed Shah from Universiti Teknologi Mara (Puncak Alam), Nurmikalthum Julai from Universiti Teknologi MARA (Shah Alam), Zechariah Ravin A/L Ravinder Jit Singh from HELP College of Arts and Technology, Noor Fatimah Binti Sharfadeen from Universiti Malaya, Lau Chee Min from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Muhammad Azry Azhar Bin Abdullah from University Selangor (Bestari Jaya). As the winner for the main title presenter, Muhamad Afnan Afiq Bin Alias also won an Honor 6 tablet.

There was also a key program of sharing sessions from entrepreneurs and celebrities in YouthLab, sparked by Maybank, Co-Sponsored by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia, and driven by Proton and R3.The first session was kickstarted by Zhariff Afandi, CEO of The Zhariff Initiative. There were sharing sessions by actress-cum-entrepreneur, Intan Ladyana. Actor, Zul came and gave a talk about experience sharing. Many fans interested in music gathered for a music clinic with members from Bunkface! and Kyoto Protocol.

The night carried on with exciting performances by Malaysia’s top rock bands such as Bunkface!, Kyoto Protocol,  Hyper Act, IamNeeta as well as top performers such as Elizabeth Tan, Hunny Madu and Kayda, Faizul Sany, Azhael, Aisyah Aziz and Caprice. The event was free entry for the public and many came to give their support for the local performers.
