Saimdang K-Drama Shooting Location - Ojukheon & Seongyojang \\ What To Do In Gangwon Province?

I have to admit, other than being in Winter and having the opportunity to visit Goblin's Shooting location, Ojukheon and Seongyojang were the other two places that I was quite stoked on visiting as back then, I was just starting on watching Saimdang K-Drama. There something about visiting the places you've watched on shows or movies, I quite like it. Plus, this place is filled with historical memoirs of famous Korean figures. Let's start!

#1 Ojukheon House and Ojukheon Municipal Museum

Anything with museum is probably going to be educational and it will definitely be a family friendly location. Although, I don't fancy much on the educational part of the tour (basically not the biggest fan of museums tour) but this was different as of course, one, a K-drama shooting location, and two, this place is beautiful. I have a thing for historical buildings.

Ojukheon House was Shin Saimdang's home and the birth place of her son Yi I. It's one of the oldest wooden residential buildings in Korea. If you are still wondering, Saimdang is the lady on the 50,000won note, that's how famous she is, a well-known artist during the Joseon Dynasty period as well as a good mother.

Cultural details aside, this place is worth the visit for its landscape. The garden or park area is a great place for a morning stroll to relax and enjoy the sceneries.

There's a minimal entrance fee of 3,000won per adult. Do check this website out for more info

#2 Seongyojang House

Personally, I would have preferred to visit this place in Spring, when the flowers are blooming but nevertheless, I'm glad to be able to visit this other Saimdang's shooting location. Again, a place filled with old architectures with well kept surroundings. Instagram worthy? Oh yes!

Seongyojang is a residence of a noble family in Gangnueng, Naebeon Lee, and it's said that 10 generations of his descendants have continued to live there. The house is one of the top 10 most well preserved original building in Korea.
