Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential Finisher [Review]
Oh may gosh, you've got to try this. Well, at least for those with dry skin people. Giving it up straight to you, oily skin type can stop reading because this is not something you will like at all. Though, if you are like me, skin's as dry as a prune, this is one great moisture sealer!
I started using this early December 2014 and I'm rather hooked ever since then. Before I get ahead of myself, let me introduce to you a little bit about this newly off-the-shelf Korean beauty product.
Introduction
This was first released in Korea in April 2013, the first to introduce the concept of a 'finisher' into Korean's basic skincare routine. Inspired by the traditional 'Mi-an', translated as "beautifying finish", this 'finisher' regimen was known to be formulated 1500 years ago during the Age of Three Empires.
Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential Finisher works by forming a natural protective barrier on the skin and help enhance the efficacy of preceding products by locking the active ingredients in the skin to achieve glowing, luminous skin.
The two main ingredients in this product are Green Tea and Korean Red Ginseng, a signature blend called Locsamhyo, that enhances brightness, clarity, glow and moisture level of the skin. This blend involves a unique process called Poje where it eliminates any unnecessary substance as well as increase the efficacy of the two key ingredients. It's proven to produce 21% more collagen after going through the Poje process. Each bottle contains an equivalent power to the concentrates of 5 roots of ginseng and 110 cups of green tea.
My Say
I know, I know, the idea of having another skincare product to top off the gazillion products that we are currently applying on our face daily is torturing. Trust me, I felt the same way when I first attended the preview last November. Especially after a long day, all we want to do is just to remove our makeup and go to bed. Well, is not easy being a girl, so I guess we'll just have to suck it up if we want to maintain our young looking skin.
After using night and day as my last skincare step before I sleep or makeup, I've learnt that I absolutely love it for the night while not a big fan of applying this during the day. It's a rather thick liquid, a runny cream almost.
So during the night, applying this on top of my moisturiser to sleep is, in fact, a fantastic idea. Especially if you sleep with the A/C on. Plus, I use most of my best skincare products at night and this finisher help to seal in all those goodness, making them work better. My skin feels better the next morning too.
However, during the day, this becomes a little to much for me. I remember feeling like my face is falling off due to the additional sun screen that I always use. Having this on during the day felt too thick and heavy on my skin. Yes, I did try using just a tiny bit for the day time, but it doesn't make sense to me, I rather push it to its maximum capacity during the night.
If you are wondering, no, is not a BB cream or some sort, it doesn't give any coverage. The cream has a distinct traditional, Asian skincare kind of scent. Yes, it's in a glass bottle, totally makes the product looks super legit. Also, thank goodness for pump heads.
Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential Finisher is now available at Parkson branches at Pavilion KL, 1 Utama, and Gurney Plaza Penang. It retails at RM280 for 80ml product.
