SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence & Spot Essence [Review]
I have been testing this out since March and even have my skin checked before and after to see how it improves my skin. I do have the full intention to stick to both these products till the day I do my "After" skin check but unfortunately one of these products just didn't really work out for me. With these new releases, it's truly a love-hate relationship.
First of all, I will have to applaud the beautiful yet simple packaging of the GenOptics range. It's sturdy, classy, very complimentary to any girls' vanity. Just like most SK-II products, it has a luxurious feel to it.
SK-II GenOptics is a new skincare series that targets current and hidden spots and darkening caused by UV, hoping to give you a radiant aura for years to come. It says to empower women in their 20s to maintain their radiance. Of course, it's always better to start young. Even if you don't see them now, it doesn't mean that they are not there. There are a lot of hidden spots, hidden darkness, and issues that are just waiting to surface if it's not properly taken care off. When the time comes for it to appear, it won't be an easy deal to rid it off.
Of course, sunscreen still plays a huge role in prevention but sometimes, when you are out all day, you'll never know when your sunscreen wears off. They always suggest us to reapply but really, how many of us actually do that especially when we have makeup on? Thus, this is the next step of prevention.
Let's talk about my favourite product, the SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence. It contains an infusion of Prunus extract and Pitera, and said to be able to provide visible improvement in skin tone and significant reduction in age spots. Well, I love it. Even without the chart to tell me how much my skin have improved, I truly do like it a lot because it's one of the very few essence that actually provides moisture as well as great luminosity to my skin after application. It feels really nice on my skin. After two weeks of using it, I can already feel my skin's radiance is improving. The product smell delightful but not overpowering, it's very soothing with a destress feels. The dropper is there for you to use the "appropriate" amount of products but really to me, I feel my face is smaller, a full drop is a little too much to handle. So I stick to a few drops.

The GenOptics Spot Essence is the one that I can't seem to get my hands reaching for it. This latest spot reducing serum created with a new formula Spot Resist Complex is meant to replace the old SK-II Whitening Power Spots Specialist. The idea is to tackle spot formation beneath the skin. No doubt after learning this, I know this will be something that's not visible to the naked. Dotting on my visible dark spot (there's one on my nose) won't work because it's not meant to break down your formed dark spots, it helps to prevent spots from forming and surfacing. So it's really hard for me to fall in love with this product. Additionally, I feel it dries my skin out a little. So I stopped using after 2 weeks and totally forget about it. Plus, I mainly only need to use one essence at a time, so maybe in the near future I would give this ago again.

Magic Ring Test Results
I kid you not, I feel like such a winner with my fist held up high after seeing this results. It's amazing that within 1.5 months my skin has improved quite drastically, especially the radiance and the spot control section. Texture part, well it's really due to female hormones too, time of the month and not time of the month makes a whole lot of difference when it comes to skin texture. Familiar having your pores looking huge and skin rougher when your period is coming? Yup, I'm a woman facing that problem too.
How to measure hidden spots?
SK-II came up with a new feature with the Magic Ring. It's a program called "Cloud Meter", to show more UV signs of damage beyond visible and hidden spots. "Cloud areas" measure accumulated UV induced damage on the skin while "aura areas" measure the brightness of the skin. The bigger the "cloud area", the more damaged the skin is with visible and hidden spots. The bigger the "aura area" the brighter the skin is. Mine, as you see on the above picture show a pretty good result with my aura area being very wide in the chart. All thanks to proper maintenance and SK-II I believe!
